Travel Logistics

Q: When should I travel to the start at Bainbridge Island and how do I get there?
A: Riders are required to be on Bainbridge Island for in-person registration, bike inspection and pre-ride meeting events from 12-5pm on Thursday June 23rd. (see Schedule of Events for details). Your hotel accommodation on Thursday June 23rd IS INCLUDED in your ride fee.

BY AIR: If you are traveling to the event by air, your nearest airport is SEATAC. From SEATAC, you’ll need to make your way to the Bainbridge Island Ferry at Pier 52. This can be done by public transportation (excellent step-by-step guide HERE), Uber/Lyft or airport van shuttle. Bainbridge-bound ferry departures are roughly every 45 minutes. A complete ferry schedule can be found HERE.

If you prefer to ship your bike to Bainbridge Island to avoid the hassle of traveling with a bike box, there are several bike shops on Bainbridge that will accept delivery and assemble your bicycle for a reasonable fee. Local randonneurs recommend Classic Cycle. Call them at 206-842-9191 to make arrangements.

We plan to offer a post-event charter bus service from the ride finish in Arlington to Seattle area destinations, including SEATAC, on Wednesday June 29th departing Arlington at noon. We expect this option to cost ~$25, and will send details to riders, and offer tickets for purchase, nearer to the event.

Important scheduling note
: please allow yourself enough travel time so that you can be on Bainbridge Island with a fully assembled bike ready for inspection by early afternoon on Thursday June 23rd. For most air travelers, that will mean arriving to the Seattle area on Wednesday the 22nd. There is an endless array of accommodation available at the airport and in Seattle, including directly across the street from Pier 50. If you prefer to book in for the 22nd on Bainbridge, the two hotels we will be using as event hotels on the 23rd are Marshall Inn and the Quality Inn. If you make a reservation at one of these hotels for the 22nd, please email susan@cascade1400.com and let her know which of the two you are using, so that she can assign you to the same hotel for the 23rd.

BY CAR:
Your best option is to park near the ferry terminal at Pier 52 on the Seattle side and travel with just your bike and gear on the ferry to Bainbridge Island. A complete ferry schedule can be found HERE. Driving directions and parking links can be found HERE.

Q: Where can I leave my unneeded luggage and bike box during the event?
A: Your unneeded luggage and bike box will be loaded into a U-haul trailer on Bainbridge Island on the morning of the ride. You can drop them any time between 3:45am and 4:45am. (Ride starts 5:00am). These items will be transported to the finish in Arlington and waiting for you there on June 28th.

Q: How do I get from the finish in Arlington back to my car/the airport/Seattle?
A: As in 2018, we plan to offer a post-event charter bus service from Arlington around noon on June 29th (the day after the ride ends.) The bus depart the finish hotel at NOON, and will make stops in downtown Seattle, at the ferry terminal (for those who drove and parked there), at the Amtrak station and to SeaTac Airport. Tickets will be available during registration. Price is still TBD but the fee in 2018 was $25, so we hope to offer this service for about the same price in 2022.

If you are flying out on the 29th, we recommend booking your flight for after 5pm, to allow for transit time to the airport and sufficient time to check in.
